These sessions are booked in **monthly blocks**, offering the perfect structure to develop your skills.

**Beginners:** Classes are suited to machine sewers with some skill or those returning to machine sewing. If this is not you, you may wish to attend our Confident Beginners Workshops / Courses to get you started. 

**Improvers:** Have some experience but want to tackle a new project? We'll work together to choose a project that will build your skills and help you confidently sew your own creations.

Starter project ideas often include: A Cushion Cover, A Drawstring Bag, A Toiletry / Make-up Zip Pouch, A Simple Garment

**Improver/Intermediate.** Confident with your machine and ready for a deeper dive?

Need help with a tricky technique or just want some dedicated time to sew? **Bring anything:** an untouched pattern, a half-made piece, or even an upcycle.

**What You'll Learn & Create:**

- **Foundation Skills:** You'll build confidence from the ground up, diving deep into the secrets of **fabric types**, the precision of **pattern cutting**, the artistry of **designing**, and the technical joy of **sewing**. We'll cover all the small, crucial details that elevate your creation from handmade to professional.
- **Your Signature Skirt / Dress / Trouser:** The heart of the course is constructing a **simple, skirt / trouser / dress pattern** drafted to **your own measurements**.
  - You'll start by testing and refining this pattern with a cotton 'toile' (test garment), ensuring a flawless fit before you cut into your chosen fabric.
- **Expert Guidance, Your Pace:** Your dedicated tutor will be by your side, guiding you through every step: mastering tricky elements like **darts** and **seam allowance**, confidently installing a **zipper** *(where required)*, and achieving a perfect **hem**. We encourage you to **work at your own pace** and passionately **develop your unique style**.
- **Make It 'Yours':** Learn the techniques and design choices that truly make the garment **'yours'**—turning a simple skirt into a unique expression of your creativity.

### **An Autumn Sewing Retreat in the Heart of Kent**

As the leaves turn and the evenings draw in, we invite you to gather for a small, intimate retreat dedicated to the art of slow sewing and the joy of good company.

Join us for a weekend of creative immersion where the only thing on your "to-do" list is to breathe, sew, and belong.

- **When:** Friday October 23rd – Monday October 26th 2026
- **Where:** A cozy sanctuary on the Kent Coast
- **Cost:** £565.00 per person
- **The Project:** Select one of three fresh wardrobe patterns and with the help of your tutor and sewing buddies create a beautiful addition to your wardrobe

Your home for the weekend is the beautiful ColourPop House on the Kent Coast walking distance to the sea and a place to clear away the cobwebs, spend time with friends and meet new ones.

## Your Weekend Itinerary

### **Friday: Welcome & Settle In**

- **Late Afternoon / Evening:** Arrive at your leisure and soak in the coastal air.
- **Dinner:** A relaxed evening. We have a home cooked meal organised where everyone chips in or you are welcome to find a venue in town at your leisure.

### **Saturday & Sunday: The Creative Core**

- **Morning:** Optional **sea swim** (weather permitting) followed by (help yourself) breakfast, (food is supplied).
- **9:30 AM – 6:00 PM:** Dedicated sewing time with tutor support.
- **Lunch & Refreshments:** Home-cooked lunch, unlimited tea, coffee, and snacks to keep the creative energy flowing.
- **Evening:** An optional **sunset sea swim**, followed by a group dinner at a local restaurant (additional cost).

### **Monday: Farewell & Margate Magic**

- **Morning:** Final breakfast together.
- **10:00 AM:** Check-out and departures.
- **Optional Extension:** Join the group for a post-retreat day trip to explore the creative shops and sights of **Margate**.

**Your retreat package includes:**

- **Accommodation:** 3 nights (Single occupancy; 1 twin room available).
- **Expert Guidance:** Pre-weekend consultations and full-time on-site tutor support.
- **Materials:** Your chosen garment pattern and all necessary haberdashery. *(fabric for project not included)*
- **Equipment:** Sewing machine rental (if required).
- **Catering:** Daily breakfast (help yourself vibe), home-cooked lunches, and plenty of snacks. Our meals are "kitchen-vibe" style—fresh, comforting, and homemade.

**Not included:**

- Evening dinners at external restaurants.
- Fabric for your project (your tutor will provide personalized recommendations before we meet).

- **Machine Choice:** You can choose to work with **your own sewing machine**, try out one of the Studio’s reliable **Janomes**, or spend the time developing your **hand embroidery skills**.
- **Thoughtful Gifting:** A one-to-one session can make a wonderful present—especially if the recipient has also just received a sewing machine!

If you'd like to learn alongside friends or family, we can easily arrange a dedicated session just for your group.
